• Transport Secretary and Heathrow Airport Chief Executive among over 140 leading speakers
• Public Sector Show Manchester to take place on 20th November 2018
Around 2,000 public servants descended on London’s ExCel last week as the Public Sector Show brought together sector leaders, political heavyweights and leading suppliers to discuss the challenges, opportunities and solutions ahead for UK public services.
Transport Secretary Chris Grayling MP, Heathrow Airport Chief Executive John Holland-Kaye and Cabinet Office Chief Operating Officer Lesley Hume were among over 140 high-profile speakers discussing the burning issues facing the public sector.
In the wake of Parliament’s vote to expand Heathrow Airport, John Holland-Kaye spoke about the need for Heathrow to deliver environmental sustainability alongside economic benefits, while Transport Secretary Chris Grayling MP outlined the Government’s plans to support the UK’s transport network in the closing keynote to the show’s National Infrastructure Forum.
Other sessions at this year’s show covered a wide range of issues across four key themes: Workforce & Leadership, Digital & Technology, Finance & Corporate and Estates & Infrastructure.
Visitors also engaged with over 150 leading suppliers to the public sector, including Airbus, Toshiba, The Open University and the UK Space Agency, who showcased a wide range of goods and services that can help deliver better, more efficient public services.
Karen Grave, President of the Public Service People Managers Association (PPMA), said:
“Notwithstanding the challenges that we’re all facing, the fact that we all belong to this amazing community of public service professionals continues to give me joy and hope for the future of public service and society.
“The most valuable thing about attending the Public Sector Show has been the opportunity to talk to colleagues across public services about the great work that we do, but also about those workforce challenges that many of our colleagues are experiencing at the moment.”
Corby Ganesh, Portfolio Director of the Public Sector Show 2018, said:
“We’re delighted to have welcomed so many visitors to this year’s show. It was great to see people from across the sectors come together to discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead and how we can address them. I’m grateful to our speakers, exhibitors, supporters and everyone else who played a part in making the day a huge success.
“We have an equally impressive list of speakers, exhibitors and sessions lined up for our Manchester event, so I encourage you to register your interest early.”
The Public Sector Show will return for two days next year – 25th-26th June 2019 – as the Public Sector Solutions Expo. The Public Sector Solutions Expo Manchester will take place on Tuesday 20th November at Manchester Central. Find out more and register your interest here
