Only 4% of affected social housing has cladding removed
It has been revealed that in in the wake of the Grenfell tragedy, only seven buildings have replaced their unsafe cladding.
Homelessness charity Shelter has warned that 42% of social housing buildings clad in similar material to Grenfell have not yet begun working to remove it. Shelter has has now established the Building Safety Programme, which publishes monthly updates on the high-rise residential buildings in England that have unsafe cladding. Of the 301 buildings with similar cladding to Grenfell, 158 are social housing buildings – and only 4% have had their dangerous cladding fully replaced. Read more here
